Ubisoft have officially announced that Assassin’s Creed Unity will be happening, and will arrive on next-gen consoles in time for Christmas 2014.
A post on the Assassin’s Creed Facebook page confirmed the newest installment of the Assassin’s Creed series, and posted a sneak peek trailer for the upcoming game.
The trailer also confirms the rumours that the newest entry will be set in the French Revolution as the cameras pan through Parisian streets to emerge with a new protagonist, dressed in black, stood atop a building overlooking a guillotine-style execution outside Notre-Dame Cathedral. On the trailer alone, the graphics of the game look far superior to what we have seen from Ubisoft so far, and even looks to rival that of Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V. Whether we will see this improvement in the gameplay remains to be seen, however Ubisoft’s previous trailers for Assassin’s Creed games have been a good barometer for the graphical capabilities of the finished game.
There has yet been no word from Ubisoft concerning the other rumoured project, Assassin’s Creed Comet, marketed for current generation consoles, but any announcement would be expected on the back of this in the coming days.
Assassin’s Creed Unity will be released during the Holiday season this year for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Watch the trailer here for a sneak peek at Unity.
